Fishing Reports
Next stop.. Lewis and CowlitzI'm heading for the South west end of the state in early April to get in on some of the Hot springer and steelhead fishing down there. I sure am missing our Catch and release season here on the Skagit, Hope next year is a little different story. I've still got some dates left in April and May for the Lewis and Cowlitz. I will upload some pics and a report soon.

Olympic Peninsula SteelheadHere are a few pics from this last week on the Bogachiel river. We used a variety of methods to target these Chrome fish. The first few days the river was up a bit and had a little color to it (about 5 feet of visibility) so we were mostly free drifting eggs and backtrolling Tadpoleys in my favorite plug holes. The chrome and orange herring bone was by far the best producer this trip. As the water level dropped and and conditions became low and clear we switched our presentations to float fishing, primarily using jigs. The best producer was a chrome and silver tinsel tied by the Skagit legend Ron Metcalf. Thanks again to all that joined us this week, I will be over Fishing the Bogachiel, Sol-Duc and Hoh In late March and early April for more steelhead and Spring Kings. I've still got some dates available. Then it's down to the Lewis to get in on the heavy springer fishing anticipated this year for the Columbia and it's tribs.. Don't miss out on the record run predicted for that area. I have days available from April 15th through May 15th.
The picture doesnt tell the whole story.. Who hooked this fish?
Here is one caught just before the take out
Here is Christian, a first time steelheader with some chrome. One of five he caught that day.. For a first timer he played these fish like a pro and made zero mistakes. Good job!

SKAGIT NATIVE FEBRUARY 15th
Thanks for visiting our fishing reports page! If there is any particular info you would like to see on a regular basis drop me an email and I will do my best to get it in our weekly report. The Skagit and Sauk rivers are closed effective February 16 2010. Pretty bummed about missing the Catch and Release season up here.. It has always been my favorite fishery on the Skagit system. Hopefully next year will be a different story. I will be over on the Olympic Peninsula fishing the Bogachiel, Sol-Duc and Hohfor the next month. I still have some open dates available. If you have never experienced the OP rivers this is a good year to check it out. They have had strong returns of Hatchery Steelhead this year and Native steelhead have allready been showing in good numbers. March is the peak time for these fish. The Columbia river and its tribs are expecting a huge run of Spring kings this year. I am currently taking bookings for the Lewis, Cowlitz, Kalama and Columbia from mid April to late May. Dont miss out on the action! If this run comes in as strong as the predictions, it is going to be red hot! Look for our new fishing reports every sunday night. Thanks to all have joined us up here on the Skagit this season
